Two Iowa students face 30 years in jail and up to $34,000 in fines after members from the Central Iowa Drug Task Force discovered seven storage bins containing growing mushrooms and more than 100 opium poppy pods in their apartment.

Pao Yu Chan, leader of the United Wa State Army, told a documentary film crew he has ordered replacement of all opium by the end of 2005. Experts in the region estimate Burmese opium production has fallen from a peak of 2,500 tonnes in 1995 to 880 tonnes in the latest harvest.

INCB to Australia: Safe Injection Rooms Must Go |

The US-backed "War on Drugs" puppet organization, the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), has called for Austalia to dismantle it's safe-injection room program. Comparing the program with the Opium Dens of the previous centruy, former INCB president Hamid Ghodse had such powerful insights as: "It is illegal. If you decriminalise crime, then there is no crime and no prisons. Can you say it is a success because there's no prisons?... Uh sure, that makes sense...

A United Nations-funded anti-narcotics agency says Afghanistan has again become the world largest producer of opium with a significant upsurge in 2002. The agency is urging the world community to do more to help eradicate poppy cultivation in Afghanistan.
